THERAPY SERVICES IN NEW YORK

Somewhere along the way, therapy became something people shop for, as if healing were a matter of choosing the right acronym from a dropdown menu.

Your healing deserves more than a pre-packaged modality.

You’ve probably seen it:

“I think my mom is a narcissist. I need a therapist who does IFS.”
“I have ADHD. I just need CBT tools.”

In more than 20 years as a therapist, I’ve never once met a person whose struggles could be reduced to one diagnosis and one intervention. People are layered, relational, and contextual, each carrying a treasure trove of unique resources that can be accessed and strengthened through skilled therapeutic work.

Therapy should honor that full complexity, not flatten you into a category.

HERE’S THE TRUTH:

Real humans are not one-note.
Real healing is never a single technique.

That said… if you are looking for a starting point, here are the primary ways I work:

I work with:
  • Caretakers, academics, and high achievers who have lived in survival mode by being capable and “the responsible one”
  • Those experiencing transitions like divorce, empty nesting, relocation, or major career change
  • Young adults who spent years excelling in school only to hit the anticlimax of adult life
  • People who feel stuck, anxious, overextended, or quietly discouraged
  • Clients navigating grief after death, heartbreak, or relational loss

Many of the individuals I see do not identify as perfectionists, but they live like them. They overfunction, carry shame they didn’t choose, and have a hard time naming what they actually want.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

For high-functioning adults navigating identity shifts, grief, burnout, and transition.

01

The work is about helping you shed fear, reclaim inner clarity, and build a life that feels honest and alive rather than monitored and performed.

I work with partners who are:
  • Early in their relationship and wanting to build a strong communicative foundation
  • Struggling with communication breakdowns or repeating conflict cycles
  • Exploring nonmonogamy or renegotiating relationship agreements
  • Navigating sexual dissonance, shifting desire, or intimacy changes
  • Moving through major relational transitions

Most conflict I see is not about opposing sides. It’s about shared problems being approached from different fears, needs, and coping styles.

COUPLES THERAPY*

For partners navigating change, communication, intimacy, and the cycles of real relationship.

The work is serious, but it’s not always heavy. Partners often describe these sessions as surprisingly enjoyable, focused, and efficient.

*including non-monogamous relationships, throuples, and polycules.
I work with:
  • Adult siblings navigating estates or family business transitions
  • Families processing the loss of a loved one
  • Caregiver-burden systems where emotional or logistical weight has been unbalanced
  • Parent–adult child relationships evolving into new phases
  • Families restructuring after illness, death, or major life change

These sessions can include the full family or smaller constellations, such as siblings together or parent–adult child dynamics.

ADULT FAMILY THERAPY

For families navigating grief, caregiving, role shifts, and inherited responsibility.

The work supports families in understanding patterns, redistributing responsibility, and building new forms of connection that match present-day realities.

I am sex-positive and LGBTQIA-affirming, with early career training in public health serving the LGBTQIA community in New York City.

I work with clients navigating:
  • Shame or secrecy around desire or fantasy
  • Changing sexual identity or expression
  • Feeling “too much” or “not enough” sexually
  • Sexual mismatch within relationships
  • Internalized rules about what they “should” want
  • Ethical nonmonogamy, kink, BDSM, or nontraditional relationship structures

Our culture is saturated with sexual imagery but disconnected from honest sexual conversation. Casual encounters feel easier than real intimacy.

SEX THERAPY

For individuals and partners exploring desire, identity, pleasure, and sexuality without shame.

Sex therapy creates space to explore sexuality as a source of freedom, power, pleasure, and self-trust rather than confusion or shame.
