Vulnerability in a confounding present with an inevitably unknowable future is the most basic state of being human. During more acutely vulnerable times in life we may feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or helpless. Our important relationships may feel fragile and may even fracture. These experiences often show us where our resources could work more optimally. My curiosity and empathy support warm collaboration with my clients, and 20= years of experience, training, and honed skills fortifies the work of helping my clients to recognize, reinforce, and reconfigure their resources and unblock internal and external barriers to living intentionally.
I focus deeply on relationships since our conflicts and struggles show in the sharpest relief in context with others. As a postgraduate, I completed the 4-year Externship Program at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, which is devoted to relational work, particularly in therapy with couples and families.
I have come to describe myself as a "blue-collar" therapist. I approach clients with empathy and good humor as a fellow human who is humbled by and respectful of those who choose to share their lives with me.
Since March, 2020 my practice has been fully virtual.
