Feeling vulnerable and facing an unknowable future are the most basic facts of being human. Inevitably, we feel anxious or overwhelmed sometimes, and distress arises in our most precious relationships, The curiosity and empathy I bring to my practice support warm collaboration with my clients, and 20+ years of experience and training enable my clients to dismantle emotional and interpersonal barriers that disrupt their best intentions . My goal is for my clients to gain and sustain access to their unique strengths and resources.
I give great consideration to relationships since our conflicts and struggles emerge most sharply in context with others, As a postgraduate, I completed the 4-year Externship Program at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, which is devoted to relational work. I find collaborative work with people seeking connection and understanding together to be particularly rich and transformative.
I have come to describe myself as a "blue-collar" therapist. In the interest of economy, I (gently! Often with humor!) confront the inevitable conflicts and avoidance that clients encounter as they direct their evolution. Change is hard but doable, especially with help.
Since March, 2020 my practice has been fully virtual.
